Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Art Contest

The Hispanic Community Development Center is pleased to announce an exciting art contest for all of Wayne County Public School Students. The art contest is designed to encourage students to learn about, and participate in the Hispanic Culture Month.

Theme for the 2009 HCDC Art Contest:

                                         “Art without Borders”

Category I                        Kindergarten -1st Grade (1 per school)

Category II                        2nd & 3rd Grades (1 per school)

Category III                      4th & 5th Grades (1 per school)

Category IV                      Middle School (All Grades, 1 per school)

Category V                        High School (All Grades, 1 per school)

Size:                                 8-1/2” X 11”        Plain White Paper Only – No notebook paper

Entry:                               Each entry must include the following information:

  -  Students Name, Age, School, Teacher and Grade.

Deadline:                          Must be turned in by September 16, 2009

Judging:                           Entries will be judges on the basis of:

                                         1. Originality

                                         2. Creativity

                                         3. Artistic Design

                                         4. Ability to Incorporate Theme into Art Design

                                         Judges will select 1st, 2nd and 3rd place from each Category.

Awards:                            Winning Students will be recognized by the HCDC at the annual   

                                        banquet. Photos will be place inside the HCDC for Public viewing, 

                                        and on the HCDC Web Page.

 Rules:

The theme for the HCDC Art Contest is “Art without Borders”. The assignment is to think about the Hispanic Heritage and Culture and learn some of the various culture differences. Create a work of art on an 8 ½ X 11 Sheet of plain white paper that depicts the Hispanic Culture. Art work must be original.

- The art contest is open to all elementary, middle and high  

  school students in Wayne County Public Schools.

- Only one piece of artwork per Category per School.

- Artwork must be turned in by September 16, 2009.

- Winners will be notified and announced on September 23, 2009.

- Please do not submit art work on notebook paper, must be on plain

   white paper.

- Art can be in the form of coloring, pencils or ink.

- All Submission become the property of the HCDC and will be displayed at the HCDC.
